Quality of Life
Is Central Florida a welcoming place to be?
Arts, heritage, recreational, historic, cultural, sports, and entertainment amenities offer a chance to experience something new every day. Yet, quality of life is more than just a sense of place, it is about people. The involvement, well-being, health, safety, and security of residents contribute to the region’s continued overall desirability.
Are people moving to the region?
Comparing Central Florida globally is challenging. A single measure that encompasses many aspects of quality of life is the number of people choosing to move in, or out of an area each year. Relocation decisions often take into account job availability, cost of living, educational opportunities, cultural amenities, public health and safety, climate, and the overall perception of an area as a place to start a life. Historically, many people have chosen the region as a new home. Even in 2008, as population growth slowed, Central Florida still ranks very highly among the world’s leading economies in terms of international and domestic migration levels. Recently, though, there has been a substantial drop off in the number of people moving into the region from elsewhere in the United States.
