Education

If you don't think education is a regional issue, we've got some homework for you.

This is sure to be one of the most popular and closely watched systems in the myregion.org initiative. Never before have leaders from all over the Central Florida area gotten together to talk about education from a regional perspective.

How do higher-education facilities work with local businesses and institutions? Is there enough public support to strengthen these relationships? What makes our region's academic resources unique? What makes them better? What makes them worse?

Education is no longer a county-by-county concern. This system will link the region's educational institutions forever.

Here’s what some concerned citizens had to say about the state of education in Central Florida:

"Pumping money into particular schools is not a solution."

"What percent of college graduates stay in the area?"

"How do educational statistics correlate with economic statistics?"

"Florida does not take education seriously."

"Bi-lingual education is sadly ineffective."

"Our teachers get raises by leaving the state."

"Are there any examples in the U. S. of a ‘regional approach to education’?"
