Dick Fess presents Good Government Award to Nicole Guillet
Guillet is a Staff Support member of the "Open for Business" Task Force on Taking A Regional Approach: Streamlining the Permitting Process Task Force representing Seminole County. "Open for Business" – the Central Florida Coalition for Growth & Prosperity represents the eight-county Central Florida service footprint (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties) and is managed by myregion.org, a "Line of Business" of the Central Florida Partnership. As a result of this effort, seven counties and 23 municipalities are "OFB" certified.
Having previously worked as a private attorney representing clients on land use issues and dealing with governmental entities, Nicole has a keen understanding of the way that government can affect citizens and businesses. With that background, Nicole balances the legal and technical needs of government with the financial and practical needs of citizens. The addition of Nicole to the Seminole County government has made a tangible impact in the county and caught the attention of the board of directors of PBAS. The board unanimously chose to award Nicole Guillet with the Good Government Award in recognition of the difference she has made. All five County Commissioners attended the recognition event in support of Nicole as well.
PBAS is an issue-driven association of business owners which provides business leaders and elected officials with a forum to discuss issues that impact Seminole County. Membership is limited to business owners, partners or major shareholders of privately owned businesses located in Seminole County and is extended by invitation only. The relatively small group of less than 100 has enjoyed several public advocacy successes that make it an important force in shaping Seminole County's policies.
myregion.org is one of four lines of business by which the Central Florida Partnership focuses on "Regional Research and Resolves." By identifying and examining the changing demographics and powerful trends that are shaping the Central Florida Region – myregion.org is helping to identify the issues and challenges that affect our future.
Working together with Orlando, Inc., (Regional Entrepreneurship), BusinessForce (Public Policy Advocacy), and Leadership Orlando (Regional Leadership), the Central Florida Partnership is moving "Ideas to Results."
